Ginzburg was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, and immigrated to Israel in 1979. While in Israel he began drawing and painting with pencils. In 1989 he moved to New York City where he studied painting at the Art Students League. His first group show was in 1993 and his first solo show was in 1996.
